The Hornchurch War Walk

An illustrated self guided walk through Hornchurch’s military past. This walk is intended as an insight into some of the military history associated with central Hornchurch. Whilst Hornchurch will always be linked with its RAF base, the walk does not encompass the station itself. Given the RAF station’s illustrious history the site deserves investigation in its own right. The timeline of the walk stretches from 1860 through to the latter stages of World War Two and looks at the key figures and the impact of conflict on the civilian population.
