By the author of “Henbit and Maypop”: “The Forest of the Frendibles”, fantasy adventure for ages 10-14. Set in a rolling pine forest in the southern United States, the story follows the adventures of aging matriarch Henbit and her clan of frendibles after some of them are captured by a family of humans. The adult humans seek to exploit the frendibles and destroy their forest home, while the two teenagers and their young sister fight to save them. On another level the battle is fought between the beautiful hawk Tegera and the corrupt and corrupting crow Vlandival. Another wonderful character is the intelligent though untrustworthy misfit Herman. Neither frendible nor human, Herman exists uneasily in both worlds and is the link between them.
Like all of Marty's wholesome family fiction, "The Forest of the Frendibles" is sometimes funny, sometimes sad, with underlying themes of goodness, redemption, and hope. www.frendibles.com
