On our planet, the lives of the countless species are sustained by death. This is a fundamental operating principle of nature: the death of prey sustains the life of the species. This Law of Predation is obeyed by every species, except one: human beings. It is this disobedience which is the root cause of our impending planet-wide environmental catastrophe. The mythic gods of Christianity and the other religions offer us little teaching on this issue. However, nature is our teacher, and probing its truths leads us to life-changing understandings of ourselves and our universe.
