Efforts to Save the Meat Rabbits

Efforts to Save the Meat Rabbits is about two women, both imprisoned by their fertility and pasts, who learn that the only way to help themselves is to help each other. Carol, a successful adult, is a cousin-by-marriage to the teenage Tara.  Carol grew up in the kind of nightmarish family Tara is still trapped in, and at first the two of them grow and bond with each letter they exchange.    When Tara becomes pregnant after a rape, her relationship with Carol is pushed to its limit.  Carol cannot help but foresee a train-wreck life for Tara’s baby, and she doesn’t know how to prepare Tara for motherhood.  She secretly covets Tara’s baby, especially after years of infertility diagnosis and a miscarriage.      Tara’s situation deteriorates until she offers custody of her baby to Carol.  Carol realizes that despite Tara‘s mistakes and poor choices, Tara can still be a good mother.  Carol now faces a huge decision: to become a mother herself, or to spare Tara the pain of losing a child.
