Some see death as a rebirth and renewal; many see it as the end, and few combine both emotions. Of course, these thoughts are not of the dead, they are merely emotions of those who have been left behind – the true casualties of death. One will agree, after studying the poetry of Emily Dickinson that death is second only to God; that death is a free agent. It is evergreen and all-powerful, that death has been since the creation of time and it remains after great kingdoms have felled. One good thing about this anthology is ‘the diversification of thoughts on the theme of death’, a result of the objectivity of its editors. All the poems in this anthology attempt to provide clear answers to ‘what is death? Why is death? And what it is like to die?’ Their use of language is sometimes forceful and revealing, each using various tones like defeat, doubt, resentment, grief, regret and remorse.
