Pittsburgh-born, Ohio writer, artist, and award-winning photographer, Melyssa G. Sprott uses many different means and mediums of self-expression.
Having written "a few" poetry collections and children’s books since 2003, as well as contributing to numerous short horror collections, countless poetry anthologies, and having work published in several countries, she enjoys many a sleepless night with pen in hand.
She spent several years as senior moderator at one of the world’s largest online poetry forums as well as teaching poetry forms before it’s closure. Other credits include Hall of Fame, Poet-in-Residence, Co-Managing Editor, and Staff Writer of the VoicesNet.com Literary Journal.
She has had several speaking engagements, with adults and children, on the benefits on self-expression through creative outlets and the various methods and forms of poetry.
Physical art, cutting and manipulating paper and texture is a current favorite activity—especially regarding paper flowers, woven paper art, and children’s book illustrating.
When acting as photographer, she enjoys capturing flora, fauna, insects, architecture, nature, and anything else that might pique her interests at that moment.
Creativity is catharsis.
