Ladder of Words, by Merle Molofsky, with an introduction by noted clinical psychologist Lawrenece LeShan, is a collection of poems spanning four decades, from the 1970s through the first decade of the 21st century. The collection is shaped by the author's love of literature and the arts, her study and practice of psychoanalysis, and her interest in mythology, religion, spirituality, and world cultures. The title is taken from Ludwig Wittgenstein's description of a "ladder of words," once proven useless, that we pull up behind us.
