Memories: The Crew of the USS Abner Read DD-526 is a collection of interviews with crewmen of the USS Abner Read. These interviews were collected throughout the 1980s and 1990s by the USS Abner Read Survivor’s Association. This edited collection includes first-hand accounts of life on the ship, the incident at Kiska, and the sinking of the ship during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. They cover the period from the ship’s building and commissioning to its final sinking on November 1, 1944.
