Requiem for the Lost

My paintings engage with those sense experiences that are overwhelming, excessive, and unspeakable. These intense encounters (which have often been described in the language of the sublime) push our sensory understandings and emotional vocabularies into territories that I find both difficult and exhilarating. This thesis documents my research into theories of the sublime and visual perception and their formative relationship with my studio practice.
