BEEF, always a fantastic live experience, were actually a fairly odd band in an indie context as they could be enjoyed by anyone wanting tougher fare than the average indie band operating at the very end of the 80’s, because they had a powerful sound, but they could pull anyone in and transfix them due to Jane’s ability to hold a crowd’s attention. People would end up impressed either way, and they had lightness in among the catchy hurly-burly too. Songs that would whip round and smack you unexpectedly, like approaching a sleeping dinosaur.
