THE INNOCENTS are an unusual ‘unknown’ of the Punk era as they did some fine supports to The Clash, had some great songs, and a breezy punk sound with a really perky vocal character, mixing US and UK influences, and coming on like a vastly improved Wayne County, with a swaggering opening to their set where Marguerite advised someone to, “shape up or ship out, honey.” I still remember that bit, which shows how good they were Here we have photos from one gig of their own at the Music Machine and five with the Clash – three from the Lyceum, one from the Bournemouth Village Bowl and the Sid Vicious Benefit Gig at the Music Machine. All but one Lyceum gig were in 1978, the final Lyceum gig being early January 1979. 251 photos in all.
