Featuring work from masters like Wally Wood, Joe Kubert, and E.R. Kinstler, and portraying controversial situations and over-the-top horror, it is easy to see why EERIE is still considered a late Golden Age Classic. Avon Periodicals was known for their adult-themed horror, and EERIE is no exception. The series lasted 17 great issues; this giant book contains the stories from all 17 Avon issues (1951-1954), PLUS the 1947 Avon EERIE COMICS, which is considered to the the first horror comic in America, AND one-shots EERIE ADVENTURES (Ziff-Davis, 1951), EERIE TALES (Hastings, 1959), and yet another EERIE TALES (I.W./Super Comics, 1963-64) ! NOTE: The I.W./Super Comics EERIE series lasted four issues, but #1 was a reprint of Avon's EERIE #1, so we have not repeated those stories. We did include both versions of a story which appeared in the 1947 Avon one-shot EERIE and also in EERIE #1, because of slight differences in the stories.
