The Golden Age of Comics saw many beat cops who felt they were not making enough impact, and so they turned to extra-curricular crime fighting. Chuck Lane was one such policeman, and when he learned that one of his ancestors had been a jester back in medieval days, he chose that identity to battle against criminals and evildoers. It must have been uncomfortable wearing that jester outfit under his police uniform, but THE JESTER kept his good humor – and used it ti frustrate criminals as he hunted them down.
