Tom Mix Comics: Volume 1 (PB)
Midcentury Comics #2-PB: Ralston-Purina Giveaways #1-6 -- Early Golden Age Western Classics!
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
TOM MIX (1880-1940) was America's first movie cowboy, with 291 films to his credit, almost all of them silent movies. He made his first film in 1909 and was already a real cowboy. He did his own stunts in the films, and also became a radio star – and, naturally, in the comics as well! TOM MIX was the classic cowboy, and shared respect of those true West legends who remained, such as Wyatt Earp (at whose funeral Mix was a pall bearer). This giveaway series, started just after the death of the real Tom Mix, was sent to kids who mailed in two box tops, and tells some exciting stories of Tom Mix as a modern-day cowboy, facing machine guns and trucks and even the occasional dinosaur! Is it western? Is it crimefighting? Is it science-fiction? Yes!
This first volume contains complete issues #1-6. Be aware that some of the depictions would by today's standard be considered politically incorrect and offensive. We do not condone or approve of these ideas, but present this as a snapshot of a specific time in history.
