HPS History 1937-2012 Hardback

To celebrate 75 years of Hampstead Photographic Society, Mike Howell has researched and compiled a full-colour illustrated Official History of the Society, with input from Michael Duke and David Reed, the current chairman. This 70-page book provides a detailed look at the history of this leading Northwest London photographic society, showing how it has evolved in parallel with developments in photography during its lifetime, and the key role that many individuals have played in these 75 years of change and progress. The document contains a detailed informal narrative giving an account of the Society’s origins, development and achievements over the years, and includes extensive profiles of some of the key people, as well as discussions of the various issues confronted over the years, thus making it an interesting addition to the history of amateur photography in the United Kingdom. Listings of individual trophy-winners, office-holders and external successes over the years round off the publication.
