Most martial arts schools simply teach kids how to punch and kick. The martial arts are a very excellent means of developing confidence in children. And bullies generally don’t want to pick on a confident person who will stand up to them. But using physical aggression to deal with a bully is not necessary the majority of the time. I view self defense as a spectrum of response choices, fighting is at the end of the spectrum.
