The backwater town of Bluewater, British Columbia was built by, and is still centered around, ‘Doc Hans’, a rugged reclusive now 80 year old contemporary mountain man, outlaw healer, animal protector and very German philosopher-scientist. He has taken under his wing two orphaned teens, Bill, a ‘man’s man’ cowboy to the core, and his geeky, effeminate, allergic to everything in the woods brother John, determined to lead the lads be the kind of adults they want to be rather than what society says they should be. But the mentorship, and Hans’ ability to be of service to all of the citizens of Bluewater, is disrupted by the entry of Carl Stiller, crooked Toronto Cop who hates his rural assignment who discovers what Hans was doing during World War II, turning facts into rumors and rumors into facts that will destroy Hans, and turn the people he cares about into something they shouldn’t be
