My Treasure Trove of Memories
Moneta Johnson Fillerup
When anti-bigamy laws were enacted in 1882, many polygamist families moved to Mexico to escape persecution. This non-fiction account tells of life in Mexico, and the later exodus to Arizona during the time of Mexico’s Pancho Villa.
Excerpts from the Introduction
In 1957, Grandmother Fillerup sent a copy of her wonderful book, My Treasure Trove of Memories, to each child and grandchild of Moneta Johnson and Charles Richard Fillerup, Sr. Over the years, many copies have been lost or damaged, and the family has added many members . . .
Several years ago, (Dorothy Fillerup Boyer) spent a great deal of time researching details of life in the Mormon colony of Colonia Diaz, Mexico from its inception in 1885 to the Exodus in 1912. These details enhance Grandma’s story. . .
Also included are additional photos and information we consider relevant and interesting. . . from Wilma Fillerup Turley’s Family album and records; personal records of Charles Richard Fillerup, Jr. and Kathe Fillerup Freeman; LDS genealogical records; and letters, photographs and information from other Fillerup and Johnson family members. . .
