Originally published in 1769, this is one of of the earliest works published for the pedal harp. A sonata in two movements, Allegro, and Menuet ( with Doubled Variation) it comes from a time when the vocabulary of pedal harp writing was being created, and so sits with Baur and the earlier works of P J Meyer in the creation of the French school of harp performance. Extremely approachable, with only moderate demands on the mechanism, the sonata is not only worth playing as an example of early pedal harp writing, but provides a light, elegant shorter work that sits beautifully on the historical instrument, but transfers well to the modern pedal harp.
