Sun Wu, whose honorific title is Sunzi, penned The Art of War during the Spring and Autumn Period in Chinese history. Around the year 512 BC, the king of Wu hired Sunzi as his military advisor. After that, the state of Wu conquered the neighboring state of Chu, thereby becoming one of the most prominent states during that period.
This rendition of The Art of War features an interlinear translation, which allows the reader to grasp the original text and to appreciate the succinctness of the ancient literary language used by Sunzi.
