A collection of prayers, poems and reflections written by Mothers' Union members diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. This book has been inspired by Monica Twaits who created the first ‘Book of Comfort’ for the Mothers’ Union in the diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. The prayers in this book are presented in two forms. The written prayer, which we are most familiar with, and a form that uses visual elements, such as photographs and artwork to help focus the mind on prayer. This form of prayer allows God to speak into your heart through images of His creation. During this time, with the COVID-19 virus present in our cities, towns and the countryside, members of Mothers’ Union in the diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich have been encouraged by our diocesan president Linda Ginn to start and finish each day with the Lord’s prayer. With this in mind the Book of Comfort begins and ends with this prayer We pray that these prayers will give you the comfort and peace that you seek.
