Our Tiny, But Huge Viewpoints
ByMrs. Hasty's Fourth Grade Class
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Each student in our class authored an original narrative from the viewpoint of one of these five animals: a common frog, a giant house spider, a house mouse, a house cricket, and a common wall lizard. In the stories, each student boarded one of the three ships that sailed from England to North America in 1606, not as themselves, but as their chosen animal. Although students developed their own story plotlines, they shared their stories with each other often. Throughout the writing process, they offered and accepted much critique or feedback to improve their narratives.
Students employed the 5 Cs throughout the entire process. They communicated much, learned collaboratively, thought creatively and critically, and exercised respectful Bulldog citizenship.
So rewind your minds to 1606. Prepare to board the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery as we travel to the New World…
