
John and Grace Mitzushima are twelve-year-old twins living in California with their mother while their father is stationed on a Navy ship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. December 7, 1941, is the day that changes their lives forever. John, Sr., is killed during the attack, and the children and their mother are forced to move to Manzanar, a Japanese American internment camp.
