Marital coercion is sexual coercion within marriage or a long term relationship. It is a belief system that causes a person to believe sex is an obligation in a relationship and a person who is coercive feels justified in any word or action they take to get it. The purpose of this book is to spark conversation surrounding the topic of sexual coercion and to bring awareness to the unique nature of this abuse within a committed relationship. This book is meant to be a comfort to a victim who has felt alone in their hurt and shame, believing they're just broken sexually. It is also intended to be a tool to help the community around these couples understand what happens behind closed doors so they can be a support to them. This is not meant to be an exhaustive resource, but a simple handbook to get a conversation started and for a woman in this situation to take a look at her relationship to see whether this could be the problem.
