Distillations from the Storms of Life

On the great plains, a thunderstorm is one of nature’s fiercest faces. Its terrifying power seems inimical to life. It can and does kill. And yet, in one of the world’s great ironies, it also distills life-giving moisture from the heavy air and pelts the earth with what it needs to thrive. Sometimes, the weather rages without; and sometimes, it rages within. When grief and loss crush the human heart, when anguish rips deep furrows in the soul, when death and darkness are all around and life and light are lost — what will become of us then? Hold onto hope; hold onto love; when the storm has passed, as all storms do, then we may find the Garden of Heaven growing up from the roots of hell. The power of Love may yet turn the chaos of destruction into the beauty of unconquerable life.
