Accept the Greener Challenge: Sustainable Energy Report 2011

NCSSM students have been active in setting green goals for our school and campus. In 2007 the AP Environmental Science classes wrote and published an earlier report with a wide range of recommendations. Students who helped to prepare that document went on to found the Accepting the Greener Challenge Club. The ACG Club has become a vibrant and active part of the NCSSM community. In 2011 the Club was selected for the Urban Conservationist Award for Durham for their work on rain gardens including a rain garden that was built to filter roof run off from Hunt dorm. This report continues the tradition of student involvement in green challenges on our campus. It’s main purpose is to update the goals and recommendations related to energy efficiency on the NCSSM campus in order to continue the greening of our campus and the education of our community so that we can all make informed and effective contributions to a more sustainable world.
