The story involves the treasures stolen and looted by the Japanese forces throughout South East Asia qand the Pacific during WW2. The Japanese forces had a habit of burying their war booty in elaborate tunnels, for safe keeping.
The plot is accomplished by having a team of modern day amateur treasure seekers using a high-tech approach, find clues and locate buried treasures, in the exotic islands of Papua New Guinea. The story opens with a murder on a lonely road in PNG, then flashes back to an old Spanish fort in Manila. A team assembles in Manila then flies to Rabaul, heart of volcano country, to join forces with a bunch of assorted types, led by a problematic character. As the group toils for the treasures, they deal with a number of problems such as personal conflicts, diving accidents, attacks from armed criminals, revolutionary forces inside PNG, treachery and murder, and a cataclysmic volcano- the ultimate show stopper.
