Nephrology Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice

The Nephrology Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice provides nephrology nursing with a method of defining the scope of its practice and a conduit for the evaluation of that practice. Moreover, this document serves as a guide in the identification of the nephrology nurse’s responsibilities to their profession, their colleagues, and the healthcare consumer. The 7th edition has expanded to incorporate an introduction to nephrology nursing. Also included in the introduction of the ANNA standards is a definition of nephrology nursing and an updated scope of practice statement. Another addition is the section of examples on how to use the standards in clinical practice. A short vignette provides the reader with an overview of a situation that requires intervention by the nephrology nurse. Samples of tools that incorporate the standards into the various situations are included.
