This kiyose, or list of poetic season-words, is aimed primarily at poets writing haiku and related poetic forms in an Indian environment, as well as readers who wish to gain a deeper insight into the seasonal implications of such poetry. Garnered from both classical Indian literature and modern haiku usage in the subcontinent, it is organised by India's classical six-season calendar, and by haikai category. In addition, it contains a supplementary list of relevant non-seasonal topics.

This book hopefully represents a small step forward along the path of a time-honoured poetic genre which is gaining in popularity in India and worldwide.

A fully indexed print version, expanded to include a Triparshva Renku (collaborative poem), The Hawk's Grand Swoop, composed by the author with two of India's leading haikuists, will shortly be available
