The Art of Family program was developed by OFFCenter Community Arts Project to bring families together for the purpose of making art, having fun and getting to know each other in new ways. Guided by “choice-based” open studio concepts of art education and art therapy, this curriculum allowed family members to work together, exploring their personal imagery with open interpretation. This book offers a sampling of resulting artwork and journal entries and offers insight into the power of communal art making as a way to promote healing and understanding within families.
OFFCenter is a 501(c)3 social profit organization which provides a safe, open art studio and materials five days a week, for everyone to make art free-of-charge.
Our Mission - We promote positive self-identity and resilience through making art in a safe, group setting. Our community arts studio stimulates creativity, social dialogue and enhances the lives of those most marginalized in our community.
