Monsters in Absinthe

Monsters in Absinthe

ByOtto Von Rockbass

This is a book that Jules Verne could have written - had he suffered a prolonged high fever due to a brain injury, whilst taking some sort of hallucinogenic drug. Monsters in Absinthe is a epic turn-of-the century tale about a wealthy young man who experiences the loss of his mother at an early age, leading to compulsive behaviors and night terrors. Studying to be a doctor, he becomes disillusioned with the medical establishment when, after falling in love with the mental patient he is studying, she is committed to an asylum for the criminally insane. He then leaves school to travel the world at the request of his best friend, a hunter-inventor-poet who has his sights set on bagging the abominable snowman. This story crosses landscapes, battlefronts and mind frames - answering questions about our hero’s past, and exploding traditional love story themes - All that and tangles with wolf packs, sea serpents, she-beasts, sasquatches and snow apes.
