OUR OWN WORLD'S REBELLION AND OTHER STORIES

When my brother Patricio asked me to translate his tales, I was only certain about two things; he had made a good decision when putting all the ideas, feelings and emotions expressed by his characters in a language that will give them a new dimension; I also knew I would have a personal challenge to try to keep the essence of these stories, which according to Carlos Blanco, the presenter of the Spanish version, was full of colloquial Chilean slang. My mission consisted on mixing the peasant tone of dialogues with the daily English, being loyal with the profile of each character, because I did not want any of my brother characters rebelled against him, as in “Own world’s rebellion”, the first of his tales here. By the way, the rebellion of the characters is one of the risks this story suggests may happen to any writer. Fortunately, the author of the character’s lives solved the problem in a clever way.
