IndustrialEnvironment: The Duality of Steel Production and Environmental Stewardship in Granite City, Illinois

This is an architectural thesis project which investigates the coexistence of environmentalism and sustainability with a working steel mill in Granite City, Illinois. The thesis proposes a stewardship center, at the site of the mill's former open hearth furnace building, which advocates the environmental advancements in steel production over the past few decades. The building strives to become a beacon of the industry's sustainable future.
