This book recognises just how central to every activity in business IT is and therefore just how important, yet exposed the role of a modern CIO is.

About Paul Coby

Paul Coby is an historian by education and an IT director by career choice. Paul was CIO at British Airways for 10 years from 2000, and has just been appointed as the IT Director of John Lewis - the UK retailer owned by its partners who work there. He is also been Chair of SITA - the airline IT solutions and services company, which is owned by its customers, the world's airlines. He wrote 50 Things I wish I'd known when I became CIO in 2007, with the aim of helping newly appointed CIOs. He has always been fascinated by the Roman Army and how it succeeded in controlling an empire from the Highlands of Scotland to the deserts of Arabia. He has deployed up-to-date data analysis techniques to Roman forts and campaigns to generate new insights into the mind of the Roman military machine. "Agricola Conquers Northern Britain" is his first book on Roman history, and uses his pioneering data analysis to shed new light on the Roman Empire of the 1st Century and Agricola their commander.
