For the first time, the most beloved essays from "The One Eyed Boy News" are published together in a single collection. Late in the twentieth century, from his perch, high above New York City - actually, from a third floor walk-up apartment over Peter's Ice Cream Parlor in Brooklyn - Paul Hawkins wrote and published "The One Eyed Boy News." His stories delved into the possibilities of using dioramas as legal documents and employing beagles as service dogs for the near-sighted. He relayed his efforts to out-pray a plainclothes nun, to gain ten pounds between Memorial Day and the Fourth of July and to donate a kidney to a dinner guest.
