Think about what happens to a child’s self esteem when a parent says, “You’ll never amount to anything.” On the other hand, imagine what happens when a parent says to a child, “I’m so proud of you.” Either of these sentences is just words, but they can make a big difference to a child’s self image. They likely will impact what kind of person he or she grows up to be. What kind of impact do you think words from our Heavenly Father would have? Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ dies for us.” These are words of affirmation and love from our Creator and Redeemer. This is a book about words that bring life. It is about words that bring good news. Some of these words are familiar like grace, faith and hope. Some of them are a little more complicated like justification, sanctification and propitiation. They are all gospel words. They are all somehow connected with the wonderful message of the good news of salvation.
