Teach My Preschooler How To Read Book 2 Vowels and Sight Words
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
In “TEACH MY PRESCHOOLER HOW TO READ BOOK 2 – Vowels and Sight Words coloring book, your preschool child learns the 5 short and long sound of vowels and the 40 pre-Primer Sight Words: a, and, away, big, blue, can, come, down, find, for, funny, go, help, here, I, in, is, it, jump, little, look, make, me, my, not, one, play, red, run, said, see, the, three, to, two, up, we, where, yellow, you.
TEACH MY PRESCHOOLER HOW TO READ BOOK 2 is a revision of the 26 Alphabet letter sounds shown in book 1 and introduces the 5 vowel sounds.
SECTION 1: How to make phonetic sounding 3 letter words using the Alphabet letter sounds “b” to “z” and the 5 vowel sounds where possible using each consonant letter of the Alphabet.
Your child should be able to sound out and write the three letter words shown in the coloring pictures.
NOTES: Some words such as “ax” are spelled without an “e” to lessen the confusion between the phonic rule of an “e” changing the sound of other vowels in a word.
SECTION 2: Next come the short (lowercase) and long (uppercase or capital) letter vowel sounds.
My recommendation is to use the picture words to introduce the long (capital) vowel sounds as they cannot generally be sounded out phonetically and are usually taught as “Sight Words”.
NOTES: To lessen confusion, capital letters are introduced as long vowel sounds and not as capital ABC letters, such as done using the Alphabet song.
It is my recommendation that you do not teach preschool children capital letters or Sight Words until they are familiar with the lowercase short sounds of the Alphabet and can sound out and print most three letter words.
SECTION 3: We introduce 40 pre-primer sight words; these words are pre-printed and can be written, traced and colored, so your child will recognize them by sight.
NOTES: When a capital letter or long vowel sound is used as a part of this book’s text explanation, it may be printed with the capital or name of the letter, such as “A”, “E”, “I”, “O” “U”.
The Phonics Rules are usually taught in early grade school when a child is starting to read full sentence punctuated books.
