The 1st London Regiment 1908-1916

This book charts enlistments into the 1st (City of London) Battalion, The London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) between April 1908 and December 1916. Using the army number information contained here, the researcher and military historian can quickly determine an approximate enlistment date into the 1st London Regiment. The book charts the history of the 1st City of London Regiment, recruiting and establishment in 1908/1909, annual camps, numbering in the Territorial Force, and the stories of the men who served. One case history per year is explored for the years 1908 to 1914; one case history per month from August 1914 until December 1916. The author has compiled the information from surviving service records held at the National Archives as well as Army Orders, Army Council Instructions and contemporary published works.
