In 1882, the American Writing Machine Company produced a quarterly magazine, to support the general acceptance of the typewriter, and superiority of the Caligraph typewriter in particular. Four issues of The Caligraph Quarterly appeared between October 1882 and December 1883, published by Pusey & Rooney Publishers of New York and distributed through Caligraph’s agents around the country. Three issues are reproduced in this publication. The fourth, issue 2, does not appear in this book. Despite an exhaustive international search of archives and libraries, it was not found.
Apart from the quarterlies, the book also has the instruction manual for the Caligraph 3, a trade catalog for Caligraph furniture and supplies and reproctions of contemporary ads and photos.
