Early Settlers of Reddies River

ByPaul W. Gregory

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Several years before Wilkes County was formed, many people knew about a remote community in northwestern North Carolina known as Reddies River. They knew that it was a quiet, peaceful, fertile valley where someday they hoped to live. Prior to 1770, however, only a few people had actually seen this beautiful valley. The next ten years changed all of this. By 1780 the Reddies River Valley became the dream home of many persecuted and adventuresome people.
