Co-author of the biographies 'Hit and Miss: The Story of The John Barry Seven' and 'Music by John Barry' (amongst others), Pete Walker has turned his attention to compiling an anthology of his own song lyrics, many of which were also recorded for posterity. Published for the first time, this selection represents a substantial body of work, with all but a few penned when he was employed full time as a civil servant for the Department of Work and Pensions (as it is now called). Many of them draw on his experiences of working with the unemployed and disadvantaged. Here is a very different kind of book, and one for the curious. Part memoir, part diary, part biography, part autobiography, part fiction, part social history, part commentary, part reportage, part genealogy, Communication Chords chronicles over twenty years of creativity. While some demonstrate his acumen as a storyteller, others are more rooted in reality. All of life’s myriad complexities are encapsulated in this retrospective collection.
