Sikorsky S-92 sets the standard

When Sikorsky set out in the early 199os to design the 19-seat S-92 it intended to develop a derivative of the S-701H=60 Spirit military helicopter that would appeal to the commercial market and rival the Eurocopter Super Puma, and provide a replacement for the Sikorsky S-61 Stallion. The new design that eventually emerged was essentially an all-new design incorporating many important advanced safety and reliability and manouvreability features that has seen the type in the UK adopted by HMCG and the off-shore oil-industry, the 19-seat capacity and ease of maintainability offering considerable savings in operating costs.
