The British Aerospace 146 Story

The BAe 146 Regional Jet was the last passenger jet to be designed and produced in the UK with input of sub-assemblies from all over the world and using Lycoming engines, It bears the distinction of having the longest gestation period of any other airplane ever to take to the skies though eventually for a while was operated by PSA in large numbers in the USA due to its ability to beat the stringent noise regulations in the US. Nicknamed the 'Whisper Jet' and is the only regional jet allowed to operate in and out of London's docklands Airport for the same reason.
