Taking Your Chances in Gambling, Sport and Medicine

Chance plays a part in most aspects of our lives (taxes and death are said to be the only certainties). In this book we investigate the role of chance in three areas that affect us daily: gambling, sport and medicine - with an introductory chapter giving some historical background and a final chapter extending the applications to forensics. The book is written as a text for use in a popular university course by two academics known for their ability to explain complex ideas. With its numerous examples and exercises with worked solutions, it is equally useful for self study, or as reading just for interest.
