The science fiction writer J G Ballard, also an essayist, stated that 'the twentieth century was about the automobile. The 21st century should will be about the house/apartment'. Since the beginning of Henry Ford's Model T, this invention became the Benchmark and standardizing industrial production for the first time in automobiles so that things that factory workers built, also became accessible to them. Most Factory workers could aford a Model T! The great American innovation! A Model t (to overcome both 'home and away') that was so standard that it was said it 'comes in many colors as long as it is black'. Yep, this Model T traverse spaces and decrease the constraining of provincial middle america. ….the nation, space, and loneliness. Jumpcut to 2020 where students, professors, service workers, and almost everyone except essential workers could work from home (see constraint). The many screens within a household become the wide-open road now.
