Likewise one year passed without any difficulties and the second year started with pending modules and practicals. Most of my friends were committed by now. Myself and some other guys remained single. I was aware that some girls were interested in me, but I didn't want to commit. Women were a mystery, as far as I was concerned. It was safer to seem reserved. I had seen many a hero kissing their girlfriends on the balcony. In the bhaiya next door to my room we would often hear noises at the weekend. Indeed, my friend Vivek was very keen to listen to those noises through switch holes and he used to say, “Sound is very clear machan." I am ashamed to admit that I tried listening through that switch whole one or two times, but I swear I couldn’t hear what he had claimed to have heard. In the hostel, everyone seemed to have found their soul mates or they pretended they were with their soul mates. I hoped to find that special someone, but the time was yet to come. One month into the beginning of the second year, the junior batch arrived. Surprisingly, most of them had already committed during their interview session or in the embassy process (or at least they maintained a deep friendship within their group), so for some days in the mess where we used to take our meals, it remained busy with new comers.
