The book covers amongst other items: a description of a Schütte-Lanz airship; a mathematical method of calculating profitability; SL design and Stress calculations; aspects of rigid airship design; structural materials and profiles used in girders; the electrical system and bomb release mechanisms. It details the history of the company; relates its fate at the end of the war and argues the case for Prof. Schütte’s contribution to the concept as a whole. In an annex the translator has added brief potted histories of each of the Schütte-Lanz airships together with photographs where available. 427 pages B&W, illustrated throughout.
