On the historic twelfth (Brexit election) night of December 2019, weird things start happening in the political bellwether of Grantchester Hall. The famous pentagrams change their colour from blue to red, white, and black. What on earth does that mean? The triumphant Tory prime minister, Blond Caesar, fearing a threat to his laurels on the Ides of December; orders his sultry Home Secretary, the Woman-In-Blue, to investigate by infiltrating an MoD property with her Special Security division. However, WIB has a better idea. Surveillance sources inform her that the BBC journalist, and human intelligence resource, Jane Reith will be conducting a vox pop in Lincolnshire on Christmas Eve; then driving through the wild and desolate Cambridgeshire Fens on her way back to London that evening. Unable to resist a good Gothic Christmas ghost story, updated for the digital surveillance era, WIB orders Jane to turn off into the Grantchester Hall estate, and enter the creepy old Tudor mansion alone, with just her smart-phone to ward off spooks.
