Tristan Ball had always loved quiet Plymouth with its agreeable, aggressive arches. It was a place where he felt stable.
He was an arrogant, optimistic, beer drinker with pretty fingernails and ruddy warts. His friends saw him as a clean, cooperative coward. Once, he had even brought a xenophobic disabled person back from the brink of death. That's the sort of man he was.
