Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The purpose of this volume is to set before the reader the doctrine of the Russian Church, in the same manner in which it is impressed upon children, lay people, and clergy—from baptism to ordination. An introduction to each primary document is given, as well as a full English translation of each from the original Slavonic. An introduction to the various Orthodox catechisms or confessions from the fellow Greek churches is also given, including the dialogue between Patriarch Jeremias II of Constantinople and the sixteenth century Lutheran theologians of Germany. The Russian Primer covers topics such as daily prayer, moral precepts, and a brief catechism, especially aimed at children. The Shorter and Longer Catechisms both cover a number of topics, including the Nicene Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, faith and good works, the relationship between Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture, and more. Finally, On the Duty of Parish Priests covers the origin and role of the priesthood in the life of the Church, along with the various duties and ministries of a parish priest in the Orthodox Christian tradition.
